| Press | "If you see one band this decade, make it YoungBlood Brass Band." - The London Times
"Against-the-odds FANTASTIC." - BBC Collective YoungBlood Brass Band has been touring the globe for the past 8 years, having performed at all of the largest music festivals in the world: Glastonbury, Roskilde, North Sea, WOMAD, Lowlands, Pukkelpop, etc. as well as selling out club shows in London, Paris, New York, Chicago, Brussels, Oslo, and more. They are unstoppable live and their new studio record Is That a Riot? (Layered Music) blows the roof off what was previously possible with just horns, drums and voice. Their stage performances have drawn comparisons to Rage Against The Machine from uncreative journalists all over the world, if you can believe that, with 5 horn players, 3 drummers, a sousaphone and an MC...though they appreciate the press. YB runs their own record label/arts collective, Layered, and frequently does educational work at universities and high schools around the US. Their first album Unlearn featured collaborations with hiphop legend Talib Kweli, poet/producer Mike Ladd, Frank Zappa vocalist Ike Willis and DMC champ DJ Skooly. Their second album Center:Level:Roar was released on avant-hiphop NYC label Ozone, the birthplace of progressive music luminaries like Company Flow, Mike Ladd, Mr. Lif, Saul Williams, Sonic Sum and more. Their new album, Is That a Riot?, is the first studio album released on their own label, Layered Music. Layered Music is part of the Layered Arts Collective, which members of YBB co-founded in Madison, WI to act as label, publishing house, promoter, organizer and facilitator of arts-education opportunities for local youth as well as bringing in/publishing their family of artists. The second release on Layered is by D.H. Skogen's other project, Cougar, which John McEntire (Tortoise) mixed/recorded. Layered is distributed through Carrot Top in the states, Vital (UK) and PIAS in Europe. YoungBlood is on tour now. Try to my funny ring tone.
I made 'Sing, Sing, Sing' to 'Ring, Ring, Ring' with my voice!
