The band was born at the moment when the last member joined it – the percussionist. Then we set up the first serious band: Gregor Muziol – guitar, Martin Czerniejewski - guitar, Thomas Stopa – percussion, and I. That time didn't give us a lot of joy. The majority of concerts was unsuccessful. Because of the lack of appropriate conditions –technical/workshop, musical as well as financial – we were forced to bow our heads low for everyone who didn't have more considerable problems with achieving musical purposes and had what at that time had been essential for us. However this short film didn't take long and after the last concert I resigned from Martin – one of the guitarists. From this moment for some time we gave up playing. There were huge technical gaps in the band, also a discipline and a loyalty of its members were missing. The atmosphere during rehearsals reached the zenith of misunderstandings and nerves, our shared musical weakness drew one large circle where was already determined from the beginning, somebody must walk away. After resigning from Martin the situation was clarified a little bit and it was clear that it was necessary to get involved in playing. I ordered the long break at the rehearsals which was in a way the absolution from made so far mistakes and serious thought over the certain things connected with the band (if you care you will stay and together we will form shared history, if not – go away, because still I will drop you off because of your lie). Everyone individually in the subconscious felt the power of these words said by me in thoughts. Everyone – who wanted to follow my way – understood, that this road depends exclusively on his own decision. The situation was clear and resolute – if we want to be a real team, real band we must set to work sharply. A bass player which for some time I replaced was a next problem but I threw a bass guitar irretrievably after smashing it at our last concert. The last concert was kind of exaggerating of everything what possible, with firing Martin from the band, resigning from the bass guitar playing, my resignation from playing at different rock groups. During the last concert we also appeared with the full name: Dream Machine. We gave the first concerts under symbolic shortened name made up from two letters: D and M, but in the middle with the letter from the Greek ABC (psi) what was supposed to mark psychodelic. At that time they fired me from work. After the month I encountered the unemployment benefit and the secondary school still went hurry - I covered up from three subjects. After these all events I felt tiring out and I was in a way happy that I can rest from catastrophic events of the last time. But I didn't loaf around in the nothingness and the laziness. For some year I played recording to the computer my compositions and all over it I decided to restart my game. The music came into the sleeplessness of nights not slept through, I exercised and I squalled from morning till night. From the room enveloped with the tobacco smoke and the smell of the still brewed coffee truly musical works of art got out. I filled up every afternoon of my music which restored me anew to the life circulating from morning till night in my head intoxicated with sounds of the own authorship. Brightly I understood that I didn't want to stride with different road. Over and over, it arrived more works and recording on a computer exchanged into a true pleasure but hearing especially them through what created conditions for the reverie and reflection from made work. The time passed and I had tactics worked out of releasing the underground CD with own cost. At first it was planned to be only demo album of the general presentation of us alone, but quickly I understood that it was not the sens of our joy. Photographs of our faces and the name of the band on the cover were something what still more identified us with the music and it put us as the artists in the light, rather than finishing amateurs off in the gutter. We still didn't give a concert, tahat's why this move turned out to be inventive in order to remind with the one which forgot about us and at the same time to create crowds of new fans. We were unprecedented in showing that the team/baqnd exists and still it has something to say, that it isn't based on a road aimlessly but it is developing. This step turned out to be good and at the same time it met with approval. The CD circulated in Internet at the same time advertising and defending oneself alone. In the similar time we threw the newly ensuing piece into the youth radio BIS, broadcasting station in Warsaw – titled "Birds" which was in the top ten at the hit charts but right before its ending where we could not count on any luck or chances. A spring came and as soon as the last snow melted, I went abroad to the work, Thomas started studies and Gregor like myself found a job at loading hens in Germany. We knew that without money we would accomplish nothing and we must do something in this direction or else we will vanish forgotten. I took the first step in order to change it and I spent the cash on the musical equipment. We were pleased with juvenile enthusiasm that we had something, what perhaps we would have but only by working hard and losing all that willingness to play. But money quickly ended and still it sorted the equipment. So I took the next attempt of a trip abroad, supported by my friend I found the next, better paid job. Gregor didn't manage to bring much money and he had to give back everything to his parents, but he bought a new guitar what pleased everyone. Thomas still studied and even though he is in work, the majority of earned money he must spend on the school. The time passed in the general emptiness and unfulfilled still drifting somewhere in the middle of the ocean dreams. From time to time we took small steps with my friend Piotrek Rupieta for the advertising our music and the name on Internet foreign musical sides what, as a rule, ended with the small success with the profit of next writing fans to us with the thunderbolt of positive opinions. We have already almost everything what we need for sweep up more than one respectable band from the scene and show what Dream Machine can afford and we will make it, even if the world turn upside down, we will demonstrate that we are the best. |
