A childhood full of religious experiences, financial instability, parental love, prejudices and forced maturity, explains why Andrei SoulsilenS preaches love and peace in his lyrics. While at the same time he penetrates so deep through ordinary feelings in the inner thoughts to accuse the dirtiness of a kind. Born in Brazil and baptized after a Russian maestro, Andrei had his first contact with music through his father and at three years old he already tried to play an old acoustic guitar and blew some notes from a harmonica. His African and European roots taught him to be always very eclectic, growing up listening to Brazilian music; Classical music; Rock ‘n Roll and many other types. This is very visible and perceptible in his music. Writing his first official song, Pollution, at the age of thirteen years old, Andrei performed it in public with his first band. Formed by friends from the seventh grade, they played a small repertory and very poorly. But all this contributed to a huge learning curve and a vast dictionary of emotional experiences. Forming his second band in 1999, Andrei plus two cousins began what became SoulsilenS today. They went through a rough beginning, playing with a drum made of old buckets and that same acoustic guitar Andrei learned to play. Andrei came to this second group with the intention to become a big and professional musician and an icon. The first original song played by SoulsilenS was “Tears of Sea”, Andrei’s second song. In 2001 Andrei goes to USA to take off his solo career. There, he shined shoes, cleaned houses, cleaned supermarkets, sold products, presented for schools, taught English and Portuguese, gave guitar lessons, worked as manufacturer, built networks of people, and made sandwiches. In 2004, Several Feelings the debut album comes to life, recorded in Brazil from December 2003 to January 2004, in Andrei’s room converted into a studio. Several Feelings has 12 songs and is marketed online worldwide. In 2006 SoulsilenS does a mini tour, the Brazilian Tour, playing in two internet TV shows as the main attraction and one unfinished live performance due to a fight caused by vandals. In the beginning of 2008 Andrei meets Giovanni, and they record the single “Walk with me”, which was placed on the TOP 10 of radios for more than 10 straight weeks, being number 1 twice. 2008 was the perfect year for a World Tour, after Andrei had acquired much material for exposure and visas. SoulsilenS World Tour 2008 was all set and ready to happen, with three events pre-booked in Manhattan, NY. A few changes and challenges served as a filter to SoulsilenS. Once again a conflict of intentions separated the members, this time, for good. 2009 starts with the recording of a double record in English and an EP in Portuguese. Andrei SoulsilenS takes off his solo career and the SoulsilenS World Tour sounds doable again. |
