| About | Cuban born, UK Based Kid Afrika mixes Latino rap with smooth, soulful vocals, laid down over a backdrop of hip hop, reggaeton and afro-cuban beats, this unique fusion of poppy salsa and rumba hooks with a tight hip-hop flow, combined with his explosive live shows have gained him the reputation of being one of the most charismatic, energetic and talented Latin performers in Europe right now. Born in Havana City, Cuba, Danny Ramirez Jova a.k.a Kid Afrika arrived in London in 2003, fresh from Havana’s thriving hip hop scene, where he established himself as one of Cuba’s hottest rapping talents. Since arriving in the UK, he has performed in various clubs and festivals throughout Europe and has built up a following based on the reputation of being one of the most hardworking and dynamic performers this side of the pond.
His debut Kid Afrika LP is out now and 3 of his songs are featured in the film soundtrack to Transit, a MTV film for the Staying Alive HIV/Aids awareness campaign which premiered on MTV internationally last year. He has also just completed a reggaeton re-mix which is included on the single of 'Right Where You Are' by Detroit soul sensation Amp Fiddler (Genuine Records) 'Lets Go Crazy' by Sandy Lamb ft Kid Afrika (A&G records) with the accompanying video shot on location on the streets of Havana is due for release later this year.
