| About | Sri Lankan singer and songwriter Iqram has been exposed to a rich background of music. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Iqram moved to America after living in Zambia and Uganda. Unable to bring his drums to college in 2001, he picked up the guitar and began to inspire others to enjoy music as a way of life, expression, and celebration.
With his very first songs, Iqram’s music brought something new to the Philadelphia music scene. “Jambo,” an invitation to sing and dance, received such a jubilant response that it reminded Iqram of his childhood in Africa, stirring his passion to captivate diverse audiences through his music. Iqram soon had the fortune of meeting accomplished jazz saxophonist Jason O’Mara, who joined Iqram in his pursuit to spread his new sound. The newly-minted IQRAM quickly made waves throughout Philadelphia, and their blend of African-laced rhythms, heartfelt lyrics, and their own style of rock was soon brought alive by a talented horn section, drummer, percussionist, and bassist. IQRAM’s spirit attracted a faithful following – a crowd infused with energy, and a crowd that never fails to have a good time. Named “Best of Philly Rising, 2006” by a panel of judges at the World Café Live, IQRAM will be playing gigs throughout Philadelphia during the spring and summer. IQRAM will also be spending time in the studio, poised to bring their musical celebration to the masses. |

I recently found out that I'm one of 10 finalists from the music contest on here that is eligible to win $1000 at the end of the month. In order for me to win, I must have the highest amount of votes by members, album sales and overall activity on my profile.
