The Fonkmasters are award-winning innovators of funkafied electro urban grooves with smooth contemporary jazz and dance sensibilities. Gregory J. Bennett, founder and creative force behind Fonkmasters, surrounded himself with some talented vocalists to record and help bring his special brand of contemporary and old school funk to the masses. Among some of Gregory’s most recent accomplishments, having a positive impact in this ever-changing entertainment industry have been the primary focus. His entry into the mobile music industry has been successful, as he generated sales of over a 1000 ringtones and sexytones per month. Some of Gregory’s instrumental tracks have been licensed to cable TV programming, most recently VH-1 and MTV. The VH-1 shows includes; Behind The Music and My Coolest Years. On MTV's Room Raiders and Trailer Fabulous. Also, a DVD project entitled 'Gastineau Girls', music-on-hold applications and mobile games licensed Greg's music. His music can also be heard on the soundtrack of the highly anticipated film, ‘Cain and Abel’ of Mercury Rising Films. Gregory received the Listen and Exchange Award for being one of the Top 10 indie producers in 2003. After performing and touring with Chaka Khan as an opening act from the late 70’s to the early 80’s and currently as a composer/producer, Gregory has taken everything from dance to pop, from Jazz to hiphop and melded all of these genres into a delightful synthesis of sensuous, seductive and provocative urban music gumbo(being from Louisiana). Some of my early influences included; Parliament Funkadelic, George Duke, Grover Washington, Rufus, Herbie Hancock, just to name a few. |

Bennett aka Groove Generator is back with a BANG after surviving the devastation and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina last year in New Orleans, LA. With his new project, Fonkmasters, Gregory discovered the studio vocal group, blended his unique music flava with their flava and created a new brand of contemporary jazz. This collaboration led to a highly anticipated CD entitled ‘Funky Urban Nights’, which is getting great reviews from the preliminary feedback of industry insiders. The CD is scheduled to be available at online retail outlets by next month. Gregory is relieved and thankful to have survived such a major disaster as Hurricane Katrina. Now he’s back doing what he’s loves and that’s great, as he attempts to recover and rebuild his life and career. Now, based in LaPlace, Gregory is currently networking online with independent filmmakers, mobile entertainment companies and video game developers.
