THE IMPORTANCE OF PR

11-2-2006-JOSE’ LUIS DIAZ

Getting the word out to the world is one of those dreaded tasks that must be done. Not doing it at all will guarantee your career will be a short one. If you at least “get it out”, then you at least have a chance.
There are people out there who can do it for you, but for best results, you may want to do it yourself.
Many, if not all, PR firms will charge a fee or fees to promote you. If you go this route be sure to tread carefully. They should provide you with all the info you need to know. I say they should. Some may not be trustworthy. Do your homework. The music biz can be unforgiving to the uneducated.
If you do it yourself be sure and cover all the bases. You have to have an “image”. The way the world sees you will have a great amount of impact on your future. On the other side of that coin, your music should be presented to the world in the best way possible. Even a weak song can get results if the PR is good.
I have to plug a PR company here. It’s A.O.G. MEDIA. It’s run by a very good friend of mine and he can and does get me and all of his clientele results. His COMPILATION series has been distributed all over the world and quite a few of the artist are on the verge of breaking out as huge successes. For $50.00 you get heard and played across the face of the globe. You get newsletters and cdr that you can distribute at will. For the exposure alone Jesse De La O and A.O.G. MEDIA are a priceless port from which to launch you and your music. Once you’re on a COMPILATION cdr does not end there. For the duration of the contract A.O.G. MEDIA will be putting out newsletters with your contact info, distributing cdr, and keeping you updated on the progress of the campaign. Getting the word out is the key to you getting the exposure you need.
Jesse De La O is a one man army. He works hard for every band or artist that signs up with him. He may be one man, but from the first time I met him back in the eighties, he has had a concrete grip on the reality of the music industry. If you want honesty (and that’s very hard to find in this industry) he’s the guy with nothing but honesty. He will tell you exactly what he can and cannot do. If you’re not a good listener then you may even be wasting your own time wanting results you may not understand in the first place. I for one can attest to the results this guy can get you. My list of friends has taken on an international aspect I never thought possible. My address book is running over. My main website had another record month in October. I’ve been able to collaborate on works in progress with other artist from afar. You may not have heard of me yet, but I am optimistic that you may soon indeed. A.O.G. MEDIA distributes cdr, newsletters, and flyers over a large area of Texas. These “PR” materials also go to the bands and artist in other countries as well. So you see, the “EXPOSURE” you can achieve with a $50.00 bill is a grand bargain compared to what most PR firms charge.
PR. That’s what gets you exposed. It’s not just your music. It’s not just press releases. It’s not just news articles in the local or national papers. It’s not just web site bulletins and blogs. It’s all of these things put together that can make or break a band or artist. Don’t ever be afraid to get outside help in this area. Feel free to ask me anything at all on this subject. If I don’t have the answer, I can sure steer you to some one who does.
If all you want to do is sell cds of your music, then you’ve already made a grave mistake. Selling your tunes should always be your job, not the job of anyone handling your PR. On the other hand, if you want to be seen, heard, felt, noticed, looked for, found, and the word spread about you, that’s the job of PR. Promotion is not the selling of your music. It can and will affect the decision making process of prospective fans. If the PR is done right, then they will come. If the music stands up to the PR, then they will buy. If you’ve done all you can to make your “PRODUCT” worth adding to some ones’ collection, then the first step to fame is in the bag. PR is the cornerstone. Without it you’d better be writing some interstellar tunes.
Jesse does quite a lot for such a small fee. I thank him dearly for that. But at the same time I know not to look a gift horse in the mouth. I keep my own PR going as well. The www is expanding every moment with new sites from which to promote your self. I’m
currently using more than thirty. It takes time to update every blog, bulletin, and read all the mail, but it is worth it to me when I get an e-mail or mp3 or cds in snail mail. I also have to say for the record that a lot of the cds friends send me are better music by far than what I have to listen to on the radio.
I have a lot to do today so I’ll let go of your eyes for now. Thanks for reading and God Bless.

STAY LOUD! STAY PROUD!! AND KEEP PUSHING BACK THE CLOUDS!!!!
