| About | The History of Chris Nelson:
A young and gifted artist, blessed to be multitalented with the area of expertise, being a singer, songwriter, poet, pianist, dancer, engineer, musical director, arranger, producer, composer, and businessman-entrepreneur. His love for music began at the age of 5 years old through singing in his local church choir. He then made a career decision seven years later to become a professional musical artist at the age of 12. Through following and being professionally coached, Chris Nelson has mastered many well known artists' styles of singing, playing the piano, and dancing. His musical influences are Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Musiq, and Quincy Jones. He adds a flair of his own, that gives him freedom to express his individual, unique abilities. Chris Nelson has been playing piano of over 17 years with a background of Classical, Rhythm & Blues, Soul and Gospel music being his most apprieciated. He has played in numerous events during his high school career under the direction of his beloved and late piano instructor Mr. Joseph Parcels. Chris Nelson writes, creates and composes beats-melodies-music, and improvises his own sound off of any piano he touches. Chris loves to produce and help others achieve their dreams. He has worked with Philly's own spoken word duo, Quiet Rage on their bonus track called "The Ghetto" from their debut CD: "You Can't Break Me", to working and producing his own album called: "The Introdution of Me". Chris has likewise worked with other great Philly underground artists of all four sides of the Delaware Valley in Pennsylvania. He plays in his own band called "The Revue" with his best friends, Ghetto Songbird and Chad Anthony, two other important artists of Philadelphia. Chris Nelson has founded, directed, produced, and starred in his own four Black History Programs from his high school days in Springfield Delaware County, and in his home town, Morton Pa. He then likewise founded his own private production company, and he works tirelessly with his business partner artist and C.E.O, Ali Muhammad of Workhore Entertainment. Through the years of working with others Chris Nelson has been perfecting and performing at major, important places and contests throughout the city of Philadelphia. He's performed at, The Five Spot's "The Black Lily" and "Soul Power", Dowling's Palace's "Juz words", The Hollywood Palace, October Gallery's "October live" internet radio, W.D.A.S. Fm & Am radio's "Unity Day 2002", and Power 99's "Sistahs 2001" at The Pennsylvania Convention Center. He also appeared on W.U.R.D 900 Am's "The Love Supreem Live Openmic", on the "Philadelphia Idol 2002" and "The Gimmie The Mic 2004" contests and made the 2nd rounds in both contests. Chris Nelson was a three year member of the Philadelphia Branch, The National Recording Academy Of Arts And Sciences, "The Grammys" and he is currently a member and has his own publishing company called, Musiq Poetic Publishing with A.S.C.A.P. Chris has performed at The President Summit 1997, at Mother Bethel A.M.E. Church, South Street Rhythm & Blues, "Side Gigs" at Club Flow and The Five Spot, with Power 99's host Tiffany Bacon. He also performed at "WingDom Fest" With Ghetto Songbird, The Khyber, The African American Museum featuring "The Last Poets", Najees Loft, The N.A.A.C.P Youth and College Division talent and fashion sow in Jamaica Queens, New York and many more events so far in his young professional life. Chris Nelson has appeared in three local newspapers. He has appeared in, "The Writers Block", The Philadelphia Metro for "Live 8, 2005" and he has his own college news paper article in the Temple News. He attends school at Temple University, and he majors in African American Studies. Chris Nelson is a self proclaimed renaissance man who is destined to share his gifts with the whole world. His mission is to entertain his audience allowing them to feel his flow, his vibe, and takin them on a ride to a whole new level of music, dance and poetry. His music is about his life experiences, and he is all about the truth, the spirtit of his audience, and enjoying all that life has to offer in the entertainment industy. |
